Born in Buenos Aires, Jorge Bendersky became interested in the sport of dog breeding and showing at a very early age. Growing up on his family's hacienda in Argentina, he inherited the tradition of caring for the animals on the ranch. Jorge also learned to manage all the myriad aspects of ranch life including its facilities and employees. Later in life, he took on the duty of managing his family's boutique hotels across Argentina. His experience with the family business gives Jorge the ability to work with people AND pets!
His career started at age 11 when Jorge had his own registered kennel and started breeding and showing dogs. At 18, he became the youngest FCI judge to be assigned to a national dog show.
Jorge knows his dogs! In order to pass the rigorous requirements to become a judge, he had to learn the anatomy and genetics of each breed as well as the breed's particular historical importance.
Jorge's experiences lead him to develop a grooming technique where form always follows function. Jorge grooming technique focuses on the dog's environmental changes and styling each dog to fit their lifestyles. The majority of today's dogs, especially city dogs, are personal companions and therefore should reflect the original style of the dog combined with the personal tastes and needs of the client.
When Jorge outgrew Argentina, he arrived to New York City to begin his grooming career. He quickly realized that grooming was his calling. Today he is one of New York's sought-after groomers.

A: Tear staining is a very common problem in the Maltese breed; they are numerous studies and surveys done that show that there are a lot of causes that will cause tears stains. A wise advice is tried to concentrate on the cause and less on the stain itself.
Wile teething, the skull in small breeds change a lot, and the gums are swollen, this will cause the tear ducks to get obstructed or don’t point directly into the eye, so the body keeps producing tears, and the excess moist on the outside of the eye is bacteria and yeast paradise!!!, in some cases, when the head mature, the tear ducks will go back to normal, sometimes it does need some vet assistant to get them opened up.
Ear infections will cause the eyes to get irritated and produce extra tears.
High mineral content in the water has being identified as one of the possible reasons for tear staining. Some breeders believe that bottle water it won’t clear the stains, but it will prevent it to get worst.
Keeping the area clean is more important that cutting the hair short around the eyes, since when the hair start growing can easily get inside the eyes and create more discomfort, longer hair will lay flat, but it has to be kept clean.
Daily cleaning with Collyrium eye wash it will keep the eyes free of dust and the small amount of boric acid in it will help prevent bacteria from growing.
Carefully cleaning the stains with a cotton ball with peroxide (the regular one from the pharmacy) it will help, be careful not to get into the eyes.
They are a few products that will help to keep faces clean, but remember focus on the causes, avoid food and treats that contain added colors.
The list can go on and on, but this is a good start, don’t hesitate to ask your groomer or contact a Maltese breeder for their opinion, and try one method at the time so you will know what works on your dog and what doesn’t.
Good Luck!!!!
